Moisture ingress
Water in terminals, glands or the controller creates a leakage path to earth. Common after a leak, heavy wind-driven rain, or on badly sealed coastal installations.
Failing motor windings
Compressor or fan windings degrading to earth will trip earth leakage protection, often intermittently at first and only on start-up.
Element faults
On hybrid geyser systems the backup element frequently causes the trip while the heat pump is blamed. The two circuits must be tested separately.
Do not keep resetting
Repeated resets on an earth fault are dangerous. Isolate the unit at the isolator and call us.
