Coefficient of performance
COP is heat delivered divided by electricity consumed at a specific set of test conditions. A COP of 4 means four units of heat per unit of electricity — at those conditions only.
Test conditions matter
Published figures are typically stated at a mild ambient temperature and a modest water temperature. Raise the water set-point or drop the ambient and the real COP falls. Always compare figures at the same stated conditions.
Installation affects efficiency
Restricted airflow, poor flow rate, uninsulated pipework and a badly placed sensor all reduce real-world efficiency well below the rated figure. Good installation and servicing is what turns a specification into performance.
