Heat Pump Maintenance Guide

What actually needs doing, how often, and what you can check yourself between service visits.

01

Owner checks

Keep the airflow path clear — no stacked garden furniture, plants or washing lines against the unit. Look under the unit occasionally for water. Note the temperature you normally get and mention any change early. Listen for new noises.

02

Annual professional service

Coil clean, fan and airflow check, operating pressures, electrical connections and current draw, water flow rate, filters, sensor accuracy and controller set-points. Coastal properties often benefit from more frequent attention because of salt-mist fouling and corrosion.

03

What good servicing prevents

Most compressor failures we see follow months of running with restricted airflow, low flow rate or a slow refrigerant leak. Catching those conditions early is the difference between a small repair and a major one.
