NO TEMPERATURE RISE
34.1100° S, 18.4200° EHeat Pump Not Heating in Noordhoek
The unit appears to run but water temperature never reaches the set-point, or takes far longer than it used to.
Diagnostic Breakdown
Symptoms, causes and what we do
Symptoms
What you are seeing
- Lukewarm water at the taps
- Very long recovery after a shower
- Set-point never reached on the controller
Likely Causes
What usually causes it
- Refrigerant undercharge from a slow leak
- Failed or drifting water temperature sensor
- Dirty evaporator coil restricting airflow
- Circulation pump not moving water through the unit
- Compressor running but not pumping effectively
- Set-point or timer programmed lower than expected
Reyds Solution
What we check and repair
- Confirm actual water and ambient temperatures against controller readings
- Check flow through the unit and pump operation
- Take suction and discharge pressures to establish charge and compressor health
- Clean the coil and verify airflow before any refrigerant work
- Repair the leak, recharge to specification and re-test temperature rise
Local Context
Why this happens in Noordhoek
Smallholdings and estate homes with pools and high water demand. Cool, damp and windy with heavy False Bay salt influence.
We see heat pump not heating across domestic geyser retrofits, integrated hot water systems, pool plant and commercial installations. The diagnosis is the same discipline every time: prove the fault with readings before replacing anything.
Urgent
What to do right now
- 01Isolate the unit at the isolator rather than repeatedly resetting the breaker.
- 02Check the airflow path around the unit is clear and look for water beneath it.
- 03Note the brand, approximate age and when the problem started.
- 04Call 069 268 0988 so we can triage before attending.
