LP LOCKOUT
34.1100° S, 18.4200° EHeat Pump Low Pressure Fault in Noordhoek
The unit locks out on low refrigerant pressure, often after running for a short period.
Diagnostic Breakdown
Symptoms, causes and what we do
Symptoms
What you are seeing
- Low pressure error on the controller
- Short run cycles
- Icing on the coil
Likely Causes
What usually causes it
- Refrigerant loss through a leak
- Restricted airflow across the evaporator
- Fan not running at full speed
- Expansion device fault
- Low ambient operation without proper defrost
Reyds Solution
What we check and repair
- Pressure test and trace the leak with the correct method
- Clean the coil and verify fan speed and airflow
- Assess defrost operation in low ambient conditions
- Repair the circuit before recharging
- Recharge to weight and verify superheat
Local Context

Smallholdings and estate homes with pools and high water demand. Cool, damp and windy with heavy False Bay salt influence.
We see heat pump low pressure fault across domestic geyser retrofits, integrated hot water systems, pool plant and commercial installations. The diagnosis is the same discipline every time: prove the fault with readings before replacing anything.
